Modernisation of the MPP-9 container-based hoisting machine

The MPP-9 hoisting machine is designed for use in mine shaft hoists for sinking shafts built or refurbished by Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Szybów and companies renting the machine from Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Szybów.

Description

The MPP-9 hoisting machine is designed for use in mine shaft hoists for sinking shafts built or refurbished by Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Szybów and companies renting the machine from Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Szybów. The machine is installed in four containers with clearly separated functional sections, containing the mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components. The complete set consists of the following containers:

  • main container,
  • drive container,
  • control container,
  • compressor container.

The hoisting machine containers are placed on reinforced concrete foundation blocks, to which they are fixed with foundation bolts.
The main container is connected to the drive container and the main shaft of the machine to the gearbox via an intermediate shaft. The pneumatic system connects the main container and the compressor container. The necessary electrical connections are also made between the containers.

Scope of the project:

The scope of the modernisation included all the components of the hoisting machine with the exception of the mechanical part, i.e.: the machine drum with main shaft and bearings; the brake shoes with brake drives; the main gearbox with gear coupling.

All four containers have been extensively renovated in terms of exterior and interior painting, roof covering replacement and have been prepared for the installation of new equipment. In addition, the containers were fitted with new lighting, heating and ventilation systems.

As part of the modernisation, state-of-the-art power supply, control and drive components were installed in the hoisting machine containers, including:

– in the main container:

  • EPZSH-S electropneumatic spring brake control unit,
  • control panel incorporating the new control and safety system for the hoisting machine and elements of the shaft signalling and communication system,

– in the drive container:

  • 630 kW high-speed induction motor,
  • frequency converter powering the drive motor,
  • control cabinet, including remote PLC modules and electrical equipment for drive control and safety,
  • incremental encoder mounted on the slow-speed shaft.

– in the control container:

  • transformer in the frequency converter supply circuit with a voltage of 6kV/0.69kV
and a capacity of 800 kVA,
  • transformer in the power supply circuit of the hoisting the machine’s auxiliary switchgear 
with a voltage of 6kV/0.4kV and a capacity of 100 kVA,
  • connection set with two 6 kV supply bays for the transformers,
  • hoisting machine’s auxiliary switchgear,
  • control cabinet containing the machine’s control and safety components,

– in the compressor container:

  • two screw compressors,
  • compressed air supply system,

Basic technical specifications of the machine:

  • static overload at the winding radius of R = 1.28 m 88.2 kN,
  • maximum number of rope layers wound 3,
  • hoisting speed 6.6 m/s
  • personnel transport travel speed 6 m/s
  • rope diameter 32 mm,
  • lifting rope breaking force 600 kN,
  • lifting rope static force 88.2 kN,
  • power supply of the hoisting machine 6 kV, 400 VAC
