Modernisation of the hoisting machine for the L-III mine shaft hoist

The scope of the task includes the modernisation of the hoisting machine of a mine shaft hoist, together with the development of full multi-discipline detailed and as-built technical documentation.

Scope of the project

  • installation of a completely new power supply and DC motor drive control system for the hoisting machine type 4L-4000/DC-6m/s,
  • replacement of the machine control, visualisation and diagnostics system,
  • replacement of the existing RW-2 6kV type RS-12m two-compartment switchgear with a new three-compartment switchgear,
  • replacement of 500V and 400/230V auxiliary switchgear,
  • replacement of the lighting installation including installation of independent emergency lighting in the machine building,
  • modifications of the shaft signalling and communication equipment,
  • making a resin floor over the entire area of the main engine level and the 6kV switchgear,
  • preparing the necessary documentation,
  • delivery and installation of equipment,
  • overseeing the procedures related to the approval of equipment for use in mining plants,
  • start-up of the supplied equipment.

Type 2L-4000/DC-6m/s hoisting machine

The 2L-4000/DC-6m/s hoisting machine of the mining shaft hoist, installed in the northern compartment of the L-III shaft of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., “Lubin” Mining Plant, is a hoisting machine with a drive drum propelled by a low-speed DC motor, installed in the hoisting machine building at the shaft entry.

The main components of the introduced 2L-4000/DC-6m/s hoisting machine component assembly are:

  • power supply to the main circuit of the drive motor, including:
    • two converter transformers – TG1 and -TG2 of 630 kVA with voltages of 6 kV/0.35 kV,
    • two sets of type DCS880 reversing thyristor converters with a rated current of 1500 A connected in series.
  • electrical supply, including:
    • 500 VAC auxiliary switchgear.
  • power supply to the excitation circuit of the drive motor, including:
    • two sets of thyristor non-reversing converters type DCF0803
  • hoisting machine control, including:
    • a digital travel controller based on the GRZ-08 solution and two AC800M-type PLCs of the hoisting machine,
    • a control station for the hoisting machine in which information, indicators, meters and operational elements for controlling the winder are installed,
    • H-C MWM-4/VER.III electrohydraulic control and power unit,
    • hoisting machine safety devices, including:
      • a safety circuit made using relay technology – the relays, whose active contacts are incorporated in the safety circuit, are intermediary elements of the control devices, such as the actuators of the safety circuits implemented by the logic controllers,
      • digital security system, based on a redundant AC800M type PLC unit,
      • UR26-82 high-speed circuit breaker manufactured by Sécheron in the main circuit.
  • auxiliary drive components to enable the hoisting machine travel speeds of up to 1 m/s with a concessionary mass for humans of 4.5 Mg, i.e:
  • 200 kVA 400 VAC generator set,
  • 400/500 VAC transformer,
  • Befared BH-H-225-3 cylindrical roller gearmotor with 75 kW, 500 V, 1488 rpm AC motor,
  • elastic coupling with manual override between gearbox and gearmotor,
  • connection between the speed shaft of the main gearbox of the winder and the elastic coupling,
  • ACS880 series inverter in the asynchronous motor supply circuit, equipped with a chopper unit with a resistor that allows the absorbed energy to be dissipated (in the case of generator operation).
