From June 4–6, 2025, the International Congress of Copper Mining and Metallurgy was held in Lubin—one of the key events for the non-ferrous metals industry in Europe. The event was held under the Honorary Patronage of Mr. Andrzej Szydło, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., and attracted nearly 450 participants—experts, researchers, and industry professionals from Poland and abroad.
Among the prestigious group of attendees was MWM Elektro, represented by President of the Management Board Marek Bajor, Vice Presidents Patrycja Niemczyk-Gala and Jarosław Długaj, and Directors Piotr Ryndak and Bartłomiej Siwecki. Together with our technology partner – Flender GmbH Sp. z o.o. – we presented solutions that have been supporting the mining and metallurgy sector for many years.
Technical opening of the Congress
The MWM Elektro delegation began the first day of the Congress with a technical visit to the Głogów Copper Smelter– one of the most advanced copper processing facilities in Europe. The visit provided a first-hand look at current technological processes and was also an opportunity to exchange experiences with KGHM experts and partners.
Expert knowledge in thematic sessions
The Congress featured 11 thematic sessions, during which 75 papers were presented. Topics included copper ore resource bases, energy transition, recovery of accompanying metals, occupational safety, and modern production technologies and work organization in the mining and metallurgy sector.
MWM Elektro also made its mark in both the poster and presentation sessions.
Jarosław Długaj delivered a presentation titled “Enhancing the safety of underground personnel through the use of autonomous power supply and auxiliary drives in shaft hoisting systems.”
Meanwhile, Bartłomiej Siwecki was the author of a poster paper titled “Synchronous motor drive as an ecological and innovative solution for newly constructed hoisting machines.”
Both contributions demonstrated the company’s commitment to developing solutions that improve safety in the challenging conditions of mining operations, as confirmed by the strong interest in these sessions.
MWM Elektro booth – among the key suppliers of industrial technology
Alongside the Congress, a technical exhibition was held at the KGHM Headquarters in Lubin, featuring machinery and solutions used in mining and metallurgy. Naturally, MWM Elektro was among the exhibitors.
Our booth became a meeting point for discussions with representatives of mining operations, KGHM Group companies, and other industry partners.
We were honored to welcome the Management Board of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., including President Mr. Andrzej Szydło, who visited our booth as part of the joint exhibition tour. It was an excellent opportunity to exchange views on the development of the sector and the role of companies providing technical infrastructure for the copper industry.
The booth also drew interest from local residents and students, who visited as part of organized school groups. Conversations focused not only on technology but also on career opportunities in the industrial and technical fields.
A shared direction: safety, automation, and sustainable development
For MWM Elektro, participating in the Congress was not only an opportunity to showcase our offering but also a valuable forum for exchanging knowledge and experiences with industry leaders. Discussions throughout the event clearly showed that the future of heavy industry relies on three pillars: safety, automation, and energy transformation. These themes are fully aligned with the strategic direction of MWM Elektro.
